You have two options when conducting your search. You can search the entire database using our Full Text Search function, or you can use the Key Word Search function to look up information by topic.

FULL TEXT SEARCH

Here are some quick tips:
  • The Full Text Search lists all the documents in the web database that contain the specific words or phrases you are looking for. If the word or phrase appears more than once within the same document, the two best text matches will be listed in your search results.
  • Spelling is important. Try different spellings if you can't find what you are looking for. E.g. Canadian spelling vs US spelling.
  • Begin your search by keeping it simple. Then move on to descriptions that are more detailed to narrow down your search. Try to use discriminating terms that are likely to be found only in the documents you seek.
  • Choosing your Search Options:

"With all the words" will only display a document if it contains every word you enter in the search field. Use this option for a more focussed search with a shorter list of results.

Eg. If you enter Water quality testing, only the documents containing the words "water", "quality" and "testing" will be listed in your search results.

"With any of the words" will display the documents containing all the words in the phrase, plus documents which contain only one or several of the words you enter in the search field. Use this option if you want a broader search with more results.

Eg. If you enter Water quality testing, all the documents containing one or more of the words "water", "quality" and "testing" will be listed in your search results.
