Introduction

The Alberta/NWT project is taking off! The Living by Water Project products being developed for BC are gradually being developed for Alberta. Alberta versions of the Children’s Quiz and Activity Sheet, the Waterfront Living and Healthy Shorelines Brochures, and the Homesite Assessment , Shoreline Ambassador, and Workshop-In-A-Box Manuals are now available. The Alberta Shoreline Celebration and Restoration Month info kits are also still available. Watch for the publication of the Alberta/BC Shoreline Celebration and Restoration Event Planning Manual and the On the Living Edge: Your Handbook for Waterfront Living in 2001.

Past Events

Precipice Theatre - Summer Tour - "Splash and Ripple"

Congratulations to Precipice Theatre of Banff, Alberta for a successful BC and Alberta run. Over the summer months, the musical comedy "Splash and Ripple - Along the Ribbon" was performed in 28 different communities. This play was commissioned by The Living by Water Project and was developed by the renowned eco-theatre society, Precipice Theatre.

Environmental education has never been so fun! Click here to see some photos of the Precipice gang in action at the Whyte Museum in Banff.

We will be working to develop the Theatre-In-A-Box Legacy Kit. This kit will be a portable, adaptable "Splash and Ripple" play for young people. Watch this space for new developments!

Sylvan Lake Stewardship Association Workshops

As part of a set of workshops for summer village councillors and waterfront residents, the Sylvan Lake Stewardship Association invited Clive Callaway, co founder of The Living by Water Project and three other guests to speak at this August 12-14 event.

Thanks to organizer Janet Remillard’s efforts more than 100 people attended the workshops and six Homesite Assessments were done. What’s more, Janet and a team of dedicated workers and volunteers, obtained 375 shoreline conservation pledges from local waterfront residents! Much thanks to Janet, her volunteers and the Sylvan Lake Stewardship Association for exemplifying what shoreline ambassadorship is all about.
